Purevision 2 HD Contact lenses

So, I had decided to make the jump from wearing glasses all the time to wearing contacts and wow am I glad I did.

The new Purevision 2 HD contacts are chosen based on the size and roundness of your eyes. Being the thinnest contact lenses to hit the market, these contacts have a great feel, even as you open and close your eyes.

These contact lenses are brought to us by the geniouses at Bausch + Lomb where they've pretty much mastered these contact lenses comfort-sight ratio. These contacts were quite obviously designed with High definition in mind, reducing halos and glare from lighting like the sun, lamps and etc. Baush + Lomb have this technology called ComfortMoist™ which allows the contact to stay moist and comfortable throughout the day, and I'm gonna be the one to say that it actually works. There have been days where I've actually forgotten that Im wearing contacts and go to push my glasses up on my nose, much to my happiness my glasses aren't present.

Another thing was when I went to the Optical shop on Robson street in Vancouver, BC called Art Face, I was astounded to find out that if I accidentally fell asleep with these contacts in, it wouldnt harm my eyes or dry out thanks to the high oxygen transmission under the contacts.

Brilliant piece of technology, great job Bausch + Lomb.

Brand New 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X 2

As we start off on yet another opportunity to test drive both the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (pictured in white, on the right) and the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (pictured in black, on the left) a sudden "I want this Jeep" hit me.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is nothing short of a miracle, from the redesigned looks to the remastered driving feel. The stance has also been remastered to give it a low center of gravity whilst maintaining the clearance Jeeps are known for.

Same style as Black Cherokee's Wheel
White Cherokee's Wheel (Seen above)

Both vehicles are 4X4 equipped, called Quadra-Trac II (R) 4WD, giving it the ability to go almost anywhere. As you might have noticed, the black Cherokee has different wheels than the white one, making it unsuitable for major offroading. The specs for the wheels on the black Cherokee are P265/50/R20 wrapped in Goodyear rubber, whereas the specs for the white Cherokee's wheels are P263/60/R18 wrapped in Hankook rubber.

With those details out of the way, lets get started with what these new Jeeps have to offer, we shall start with the black Limited.

Black 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4
Exterior Color: Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl coat
Interior Color: Black
Interior: Leather trim seats with perf inserts
Engine: 5.7 Liter V8 Multi-displacement VVT
Transmission: 5 speed Automatic 545RFE

So, as I said earlier, The jeeps have been redesigned inside and out, from total changes to some major enhancements. Let's start off with the basics.

Standard features (Unless replaced by optional equipment) include the newly created Quadra-Trac II (r) 4WD system that allows the Jeep to always be in 4X4 mode. Hill start assist which also has hill decent control, helps keep the jeep from rolling backwards on a steep hill and helps it decend slower when needed. Trailer sway dampening is another useful feature. The new passive entry proximity remote allows the owner to unlock/lock, open the doors and start the Jeep without the key ever leaving their pocket. This system, also known as Keyless Enter-N-Go is great for those days where you cant remember where you put your key, but you know you have it on you, all you have to do is go up to the door and put your hand on the handle, if the Grand Cherokee unlocks, then hey, you have the key on your person. Starting the Grand Cherokee only works if the key fob is INSIDE the JEEP, unless of course you've remote started it, but even still, if you hit the remote start button on your keyfob and leave the key in the house, you won't be able to gain entry to the Jeep, its just that smart. Keyless Enter-N-Go* paired with Sentry's Key Theft Deterrent System make this Jeep virtually unstealable. For the individuals that feel like reversing the Grand Cherokee is a challenge, look no further. Jeep has added the ParkSense Rear Park Assist System coupled with a Parkview (TM) Rear Back-up Camera that automatically engages when the Jeep is put into reverse.

Safety features include advanced multistage front airbags coupled with supplementary side curtain front and rear airbags to protect passengers in the unfortunate event of a collision. The Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS) makes it easier for accident response teams to both see and reach the occupants of the vehicle by turned on the interior lighting, unlocking all the doors and shuts off fuel to the engine after sensing that an airbag has been deployed. For child seats, upper tether anchorages and anchor system LATCH ready are present. Four wheel traction control coupled with the standard Electronic Stability Program and Anti-lock-4-wheel-disc brakes give you a piece of mind while cruising along.

Brand New 2011 Dodge Journey

So today I had the opportunity to test drive a new Mango Tango 2011 Dodge Journey SE Plus (Canada Value Package) which arrived at Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep.

Lets start with exterior looks shall we?

So as you can see, Dodge has significantly changed the front to give it a sportier edge. I must say they've done a good job by doing so. The Journey sports the new Dodge Grille as well as what looks to be a sport body-kit style front bumper.

Most of the standard equipment is the same as previous years.
ESP (Electronic Stability Program), active head restraints, advanced multistage front airbags, supplementary side curtain airbags which cover all rows of seats, driver side inflatable knee-bolster airbag, tire pressure monitoring sensor, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, child seat anchor system which is LATCH ready as well as the 4-wheel-anti-lock-disc brakes, traction control, brake assist, keyless enter-n-go, trailer sway dampening and to top everything off, an electronic roll mitigation system.

This vehicle also had a couple of options included called the Customer Preferred package which gives the new owner Front and rear Floor mats (yes you can order Journeys without floor mats), rear tonne cover known as a "Cargo Compartment Cover"*, Leather wrapped shift knob, Tinted sunscreen glass, power heated exterior mirrors, body-color exterior mirrors, roof rails, 17 inch aluminum wheels and P225/65/R17 BSW All Season Touring tires. Obviously this all comes at a price, usually MSRP at $1500 just for the preferred package.

*Cargo compartment cover is not available with 3rd row seats.*

For the rear of the Journey, Dodge has redesigned the tail-lights to accomodate the new LED Era, which also happens to be part of the Customer Preferred Package. Streamlined curves that go right into the tail-lights give it that new sleek look that most customers were looking for in previous years of Dodge's Crossover model.

Now lets take a look at the Dodge Journey's redesigned interior.  Right away you can notice that this year, Dodge actually redesigned the whole dashboard to give the Journey an updated, more sleek and smoothe look. New premium cloth low-back bucket seats welcome you to take a seat. All the door panels as well as the dash have a new soft-touch type material to them, giving them texture without compromising comfort. Excellent choice in my opinion. This journey was equipped with 6 speakers and an Auxiliary input for mobile devices such as Apple's Ipod, Sony's Playstation Portable and Nintendo's DS, to allow playback of music through the 6 speakers. You can also see the new Premium instrument cluster with display screen. Also added is a Remote USB port to copy music over to the Journey's harddrive (not in this model) as opposed to having a USB drive sticking out of the screen. Illuminated front cup holders let you see where your drink is under low light conditions. Power windows with driver side One-Touch-Down feature, power door locks, driver and passenger lower LED lights (light the door panels) and a tilt/ telescopic steering column.

The 4.3 inch screen in the center of the dash is Dodge's new touchscreen with UConnect (their bluetooth handsfree system). It also functions as the air conditioning controller as well as radio.

To make life easier, the second row seats fold 40/60 flat so you can fill the Journey with boxes for moving or groceries, a feature seen in previous models. For Comfort, this Journey was equipped with a dual-zone temperature control air conditioning system.

Engine Specifications are the same from models before, running a 2.4 Liter I4 DOHC 16-valve Dual VVT engine linked to a 4-speed Automatic VLP Transmission.

Total price for this exact Dodge Journey, a mere $26,213 CAD plus tax, which includes dealer markup, Destination charge, documentation fee, environmental green fee and a $50 fuel fill charge.*

*Excludes license fee and dealer supplied options and accessories.
